DeFi Founders Club is a private network for the people building DeFi. This guide is the system behind it: the positioning, the voice, and the identity, a single core that speaks in three surfaces without ever losing itself.
Every design decision in this guide traces back to one positioning and four principles. If a choice doesn't serve them, it doesn't ship.
Invite-only, founder-first, and quiet by design. DFC earns attention through the quality of the room, not the volume of the marketing.
The value is who is in the room. Quality over quantity, always, in members, in events, in every asset that carries the mark.
We say less, and mean it. No hype, no filler, no growth-hacking tone. Precision reads as confidence.
We speak as a peer who has shipped, raised, and hired, never as a vendor selling to a lead. Warmth without performance.
Understatement is the flex. Restraint, whitespace, and a single accent do more than a loud palette ever could.
One personality across every surface. The volume changes with the room; the character never does.
Rules of thumb: lead with the reader's outcome, cut adjectives before nouns, and never use a word a founder wouldn't. One serif-italic "wink" per composition, never two.
DFC set as three overlapping letters, each carrying its own offset echo, a mark that reads as a room full of people, and as a network that repeats and compounds. It is the one fixed point in the system.
Keep clear space equal to the cap-height of the "D" on all sides. Never let type, edges, or other logos enter that zone.
Each form has its own floor, listed below. Below its floor the mark keeps its letters and drops the offset. Below 24px tall there is no logo placement at all — icon contexts take the badge.
The monogram is its offset, so in one colour it traces the offset rather than dropping it. Two-tone fills it; this outlines it. Those are the monogram’s two forms.
For embossing, foil, laser etch, engraved signage, and one-colour print.
The offset belongs to the monogram. Once a name sits beside it the name does that work, so the mark is set solid and the two read at one weight. The club lockup uses a slim divider and tracked uppercase; research takes a lighter route, an amber point and a single-line label.
No name is carrying the mark here, so the rule above does not apply. The monogram is set solid only where neither of its own forms fits: under 32px tall, and 32–48px wherever one ink is all there is. The offset is dropped because it cannot survive at that size, not because something replaced it.
Used wherever research is the voice: research pages, reports, and benchmark decks. The DFC monogram and Research label now read as one line, separated by a small amber point. The parent name is already carried by DFC, so it is not repeated beneath the label.
The same single-line signature with the outlined monogram for navigation sizes. Ink letters sit on light grounds, ivory on dark. The amber point stays unchanged in both.
Superseded: the flat dfc-research-compact-* marks had no outline and are no longer used on the site. The amber-ground compact variant is still available for full-bleed amber event surfaces, where an outline would disappear.
A near-monochrome system with a single accent. Amber is the brand; everything else is stage and light. The share of amber on a surface is the volume dial, a whisper on ink, the entire ground on stage.
Ink surfaces use amber as an accent only (roughly 5% of the surface). Paper uses it for gradients and highlights (~15%). Stage makes amber the entire ground. Amber is never used for long-form body text on ink, reserve it for marks, links, and one accent word.
Inter carries everything you set. JetBrains Mono carries everything we measured. Lora italic is the single serif wink, reserved for club voice, one per composition, never on data.
Interface, identity, and reading. Weights 400–800.
Measured values, axes, scales, and tokens.
The wink. Club voice only, one per layout.
Weight is the volume dial: 600 for reading, 700–800 for data authority and poster-scale rooms. Tracking tightens as size and weight grow.
The same mark, colour, and type flex across three surfaces. The surface tells the audience which DFC is speaking, the club, the lab, or the room.
A small set of components, styled once. Pills for buttons and tags, hairline cards, and a single amber accent state throughout.
Invite-only and vetted. Founders of live DeFi protocols, quality over quantity.
Warm paths between founders, funds, and ecosystems, made personally.
Founder-centric rooms at the industry's key moments.
Two signature devices carry the brand between assets, the bleeding echo and the line-art skyline. Motion is functional: it communicates state, never decoration.
Motion signals a state change, hover, press, entrance. Nothing loops for decoration.
cubic-bezier(.16,1,.3,1) for entrances; 150–250ms for interface feedback.
Arrows slide the way they take you. Content fades, it never jumps. Reduced-motion is fully honoured.
Ready-made assets for the feed, the calendar, and the stage. Every file is drawn from the same core. Sources live in /x-assets.
The shipped work defines the system: an offset monogram in the host row, one ink of line art over a flat or gradient ground, one serif-italic line, and supporters on the baseline. Square covers label each host; the wider banner lets the marks stand alone. Grounds in use are amber, ink, and a co-host’s blue.
DFC and every co-host sit in one top row at matched optical weight and equal clear space. The square covers name the relationship above the marks — "Hosted by", "Organized by", "Co-hosted by"; the wider banner drops the labels and lets the row carry it. Supporters go in the baseline row, smaller, and never in the top row.
The DFC mark never combines with a partner mark into a new logo. Co-branding is a row of equals, not a blend.
The mark and the palette hold their meaning only when they hold their rules. These are the ones that matter most.
Never set long-form copy in amber. It's a mark-and-accent colour only; body stays ivory on ink, ink on paper.
Never use the Lora italic wink on numbers, tables, or the lab surface. Data is Inter and mono only, for authority.
Body clears WCAG AA. Amber deep (#B5760A) is the accessible amber on light grounds.
Every interactive element shows a 2px amber focus ring on keyboard navigation.
prefers-reduced-motion disables all animation and reveal.
Marks carry alt text; decorative echoes are aria-hidden.
Size rules
The mark takes three forms and the offset is what distinguishes them.
The reduction owns everything under 32px tall, and 32–48px too whenever only one ink is available, because the outline cannot render there and the two-tone needs a second colour. It is never a third form and never used where a form carrying its offset fits.
The amber badge is the canonical avatar and app icon; badge-ink only at 48px and above. Absolute floor for the reduction: 24px tall. Below that there is no logo placement — icon contexts take the badge.
The single source of truth. These variables drive the site, the assets, and everything downstream.
